Management Consulting

Forisk supports senior executives and business owners with decisions related to strategic planning, organizational restructuring and capital allocation in the forest products, wood bioenergy and timber investing industries.

Specific areas of support include:

  • Due diligence
for acquisitions and divestitures of timberland or wood-using manufacturing facilities.  Forisk members support teams by participating in on-the-ground due diligence, evaluating documentation and assumptions in “data rooms” and providing market and industry analysis to bankers and senior management.
  • Strategic planning
for companies or teams. In addition to facilitation, Forisk can provide frameworks and data to support strategic planning decisions for timber and wood-related markets.  Related assignments often include scenario planning and risk analysis for worst-case scenarios and alternate competitive outcomes.
  • Procurement strategy,
including how to structure wood procurement organizations and setting price targets and mechanisms in wood supply agreements.  Forisk research into the cost-versus-control tradeoffs associated with alternate wood raw material strategies clarifies the advantages and disadvantages of different strategies for different local and regional markets, for different species requirements, and for different facility types and sizes.
  • Special projects:
Forisk frequently works with management teams on special projects that provide additional support for strategic or investment efforts.
